Embracing Imperfection

One of the biggest barriers that many of us face is our fear of imperfection.

A TV moment that’s stuck with me comes from Schitt’s Creek. David is paralyzed with anxiety when he has to take a driving test to renew his license. On his way to take the test, he is having a total freakout and his sister Alexis tells him that “People aren’t thinking about you the way that you’re thinking about you.” He quickly learns that this is true when the driving test administrator barely even pays attention during the test.

“People aren’t thinking about you the way that you’re thinking about you.” is something that any of us with fear of imperfection could benefit from getting tattoo’d on our foreheads. Anyone who relates with this fear of being imperfect can relate to the fact that it takes a lot to get this truth to sink in.
